Kuching ( Part 4 )
Day 3
Day 3 started with us having breakfast as usual. The tour guide for this trip was Bro Jonathan. He's a teacher at Lodge International School actually. He teaches physics and yet knows the history of Sarawak like a history teacher. Do you happen to know him Cynthia??? haha
Anyhow, our trip of visiting another part of Kuching started with us heading to the Sarawak River.
An view of Kuching town. Feels like 1930's Malaya doesn't it ??
A police patrol boat patrolling the river
Another look at the polluted river

A store interesting enough to capture??
This is why
After strolling near the river bank for some time, we went into the museum orang cina near the river and cooled off inside it as it had air-con's. Thats pretty much why we went inside in the first place. After cooling down, we decided to visit Fort Margherita. Its across the river so we had to taxi the river taxi across and walk to the fort.
River taxi - seems like all the public transport in Kuching were bought by Hotlink
After getting across the river, we asked a kind old pak cik the direction to the fort. He happily pointed the way to us. =) Who says all Malaysians are rude?? Some oni lar...

The kind old retired police officer
Nearer this time
A kampung house along the way
Sarawak style huge satelitte dishes
Same kampung house
Dilarang masuk kecuali anda seekor rusa

Bilik pancaragam polis

Police tank in the older days
Police cannon
Rubbish littered in a hole?
No, its inside the cannon hole Malaysian style
And more olden police cannon and guns
Wiper of an old police truck, very cute neh?
Their design very weird one..how to drive?? got x-ray eyes??
SG stands for Sarawak Goverment, not Singapore....
This truck got a better design..at least got a window to see the road
Better design cos of the bigger glass windshield
A pitifully small sign showing us where the fort is
At last, Fort Margherita

Model of the entire fort
Guess what, they put their senapangs there to shoot the enemies
Place for prisoners, now its for the brooms and friends
Place for a football game... No lar, to raise flag and hang prisoners
Look closely at the black door...What do you see??
Small cannons
So now what you see??
Another view of the fort
You see Pirates of the Sarawak Goverment
I opened the door and found a basket of rotten fruits
They're not fruits okay... thats Rentap's head.. JK

An olden telescope which looked more like a robot
Another view from the top of the fort
After signning the guest book, we left and walked back the same route we came. While walking back, we passed the plice station and saw some police officers practising with their musical instruments. We coaxed to perform for us and well, they did! haha

Mr Shy performing
Their tai lou performed "ye lai siang" for us with his bagpipe
We took the water taxi back across the river and to a brother's shop who sells souveniours at a discounted rate to us. =)
A motorist who's all orange ... ==
